I am grateful to the community, teachers, and ancestors who have formed and shaped my work especially Jan Engels-Smith, Karen Hefner and the Lightsong community, Rae Johnson, Colleen Bennelli, Raina Imig, Marion Woodman, Paul Kottman, Geoff Adelsberg, James Hillman, Pema Chodron, Emma Restall Orr, Joanna Macy, Aurora Levins Morales, Bell Hooks, Vine Deloria, Carl G. Jung, Alejandro Jodorowsky, David Abram, Loren Cruden, and Daniel J. Foor.

Some I know well, some I’ve met only in books.

I am Faith Carol, and my journey has been through story and symptom, dreams and inner adventure. I am an artist, witch, musician, alchemist, dancer, energy healer, writer, mystic, and researcher. It is my life purpose to question the mind-body-earth split and facilitate new ways of relating to our symptoms and the earth

Though I was raised on Lenape land, outside of what is now New York City I currently live in Madison, Wisconsin, on the colonized land of the Ho-Chunk peoples. I am a white queer femme, and my peoples came from Ireland, England, France, Wales, and a few other spots in Western Europe. The majority of my ancestors participated in the initial colonization of what is now the United States, and have been here for hundreds of years. Because of this, I make de-colonization practices, and respect for indigenous peoples of North America a primary focus of my work.

My healing work integrates the work of Carl Jung and James Hillman, Somatic studies (literally means study of the body's inner experiences), the neo-shamanic tradition of Michael Harner, British Druidry, Celtic shamanism, Deep ecology, candle and thread magic, new Animism, hedge witchcraft, herbalism, reiki, and dream tending to support people in living their best lives. I believe in the power of the individual to heal themselves. My intention is to give people resources to be empowered self-healers.

I have been called into healing through learning to survive and thrive amidst intense psychological, physical, and dream experience. As I child, I felt burdened by these experiences: I saw myself as weaker than others and an outcast from healthy society. I still deal with chronic illness and disability. But, these hardships were also my teachers, and created opportunities for me to heal and explore healing for others. I developed a relationship of curiosity, creativity, and contemplation to these challenging dimensions of my body and psyche. This work provided the foundation of my current practice where I use the aforementioned tools to interpret symptoms as messages from the psyche and spirit. Through reflection and training, I have learned to see symptoms as an opportunity to create relationship with the self and the animated universe.

I approach healing from an animistic standpoint, which means I believe that all of material reality is infused with energy and soul. I understand all things to be in relationship to one another, everything in flow, in tandem with one another. No pain, joy, change, or stagnancy stands alone. I also consider Somatics to be an essential aspect of my practice, meaning I privilege the lived experience of the body. An essential aspect of wholeness is embodiment, a state of being where the mind, body, and spirit are in seamless balance and relationship. Though I work in the medium of energy, I strive to help my clients to integrate healing on a physical level through ritual, ceremony, sound, movement, and creativity. I am currently seeking certification as a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist, to integrate energetic re-patterning with movement re-patterning, for accelerated healing.

In my practice, I connect clients to the messages of their psychological, physical, dream lives through witnessing, shifting energy, and storytelling. When we shift the energetic structure of a thought, a pattern of behavior, relationship, memory, illness, or trauma, we open the possibility of changing our embodied reality for the better. When we tell stories together, we use the magic of language to cement positive transformation.

Though I do not discriminate in my services, I feel called to witness and support those who seek to transform wounds from gender oppression, especially those in the female identified, queer, and trans communities.

I am a researcher, and focus on the relationship between the unconscious/spiritual aspects of experience and the physical. I am interested in autoimmune disease, chronic illness, disability, social justice, expressive arts, creativity, and ecopsychology. I am currently writing a book about the energetics of intimate violence, with tools and spells for personal and community liberation. I am also writing a book that focuses on energetic wellness while navigating the medical field.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me, I look forward to getting to know you!

Please note I am not a licensed psychologist, social worker, doctor or LFMT. I intentionally work outside of the medicalization of healing practices, and offer my work as a complement to those services.

In addition to my Rattles and Sacred Art, which you can see on this website, I am including a few links to creative endeavors below. I use sound, movement, and image to explore psyche, the other-world, and numinous experience. More to come.
