Rattle Making Class
Make your very own sacred rattle!
Work with an experienced teacher from the comfort of your own home to create a sacred rattle. These handmade instruments are companions for ceremonial work, energy healing, shamanic journeying, and more.
Rattles can be used for fun and play, to call in sacred space, cleanse or build up your energy fields, in deepening meditations, making herbal medicine, contacting your guides and ancestors, in your Reiki practice, or any other time you’re feeling the need for some extra power, love and magic in your life.
This live class meets on Zoom 2 times for 2 hours each. In the first class we will give our rattle form. During the days that follow your rattle will harden into shape. When we meet the second time we will help our rattles find their voices and connecting to their magical medicine on a sacred journey.
Folks who join this class will receive a kit with Elk rawhide all cut and ready to be sewn together to create.
I give my kits the same luxurious treatment I give all my handmade rattles. I do all the base work, so that you can make a beautiful and usable rattle without a headache.
The Elk rawhide is a light tan color (see image of kit above, bottom right.) Every kit has a different kind of stick, cut and prepped to be ready for rattle making. Rattles are intuitive art objects, no two ever look the same.
Registration closes March 15th, to ensure everyone has their kits in time for class. There is room for a total of 10 participants.
These rattles use similar techniques to rattles made by northern American Indigenous peoples. I do not represent any traditions but of my own ancestors, who mostly came from Ireland, England, Wales, and France.
In gratitude to the people’s whose rattles these are influenced by, 10% of proceeds from this class will be donated to the Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women. Please consider donating to the organization yourself.

Please note that creating a rattle takes different amounts of time for different people. I will be available to support people in their creation process for a total of 2.5 hours each class day. Some folks may finish early, others may require the entire time.

WHO?
This class is for anyone interested in having their own handmade sacred rattle, or who wants to engage in the process of creating a rattle. Ritualists, spiritual leaders, energy healers, sound healers, witches, druids, shamanic practitioners, meditators, trance workers, and anyone with an interest in spirituality and ceremony will enjoy and benefit from this class.
No special skills are required except willingness, patience, and the capacity to thread a needle.
Folks of all ages are welcome, though I ask that children under the age of 10 join with an adult. This class may be a little advanced for children under 6.
TUITION
The cost for the class is $100, plus the amount for whichever kit you choose. The kits come in a variety of sizes and prices, ranging $20-$70. More about those below.
There is one scholarship available to anyone who identifies as LGBTQIA, BIPOC, disabled, or chronically ill. Please email me directly to access the scholarship.
Once you sign up you will receive a kit in the mail.
Kit Options
Full Kit Deluxe: $70
Comes with everything you need to create your own Elk rattle, minus a few common household items (like a towel, scissors, glue, candles, and a bowl of water). Includes corn and assorted crystals to give your rattle its voice. Finished rattle measures between 11-14 inches. Only 7 available.
Full Kit Deluxe Travel Size: $50
Comes with everything you need to create your own Elk rattle, minus a few common household items (like a towel, candles, scissors, glue, and a bowl of water). Includes corn and assorted crystals to give your rattle its voice. Finished rattle measures 8-11 inches. Only 1 left.
Full Kit NO Stick: $55
Comes with everything you need to create your own Elk rattle, minus a stick for the rattle handle. It will be up to you to find a stick yourself, or use one you already have. The kit will include details about how to choose or prep your stick.
Basic Kit: $22
Comes with Elk rawhide cut and ready to sew, string to sew your rattle with, and directions. Everything else you will need to provide yourself , all easy to get items (a needle, pillow stuffing, and corn for filling your rattle). A list will be provided to you of exactly what you need to be ready for class.
When you sign up you will choose the class, and be prompted to add whichever kit type you prefer. Some kit types have limited availability, I will remove those options as soon as they sell out.
